6) I saw my parents this morning
To day, my family and me spent half a day doing prayer to my ancestors and deceased parents. The little Buddhist temple located at Paya Lebar road, where tranquil and serenity lived.
This is the place for holding the prayer for the deceased and the tablets. My parents are somewhere at the left near the front.
But strangely, I couldn’t see them!
I walked to the back yard, saw a young papaya tree waved and said hello to me.
And walked further, asked Phalaenopsis,” where are my parents?”
She just smiled at me in return.
I asked the pearl drop, do you know where are my dearest parents?
I approached the aging bench.
I feel a balmy and gentle hand pat on my shoulder, and I looked up.
I saw daylight resting on the leaves. I saw them!
Dad and Mom said:” son, not to worry about us! We have friends, many friends here! You should take good care of yourself and live meaningfully each day!”
I kept nodding in sob.
Raindrops witnessed and shared with me this moment.
My dearest Dad and Mom, I missed you!

Our departed parents and family are always with us Sydney. We just have to listen for their voices. I think they continue to guide us, and love us, from the other side. You did see them in the papaya tree, the flowers, the bench, the leaves and light….they wanted you to see that beauty, and you did!

Yesterday I watched Les Miserables, I have tears in my eye at the end of the movie. When Li Ka Shing talked about his father who passed away many decades ago, his voice trembled. I am sure, for our heart with so much love for our parents, their departs are always felt like as if have happened yesterday. I wept as I was taking the bus to Choa Chu Kang graveyard on 9 Jan, the date when my father passed away. I walked into to columbarium after 6 pm. The sunset was so beautiful, and the field is curving dotted with wonderful trees. I could not for thinking them and weeping on my way, and even when I am writing now.

So sad but so beautiful. I am glad to hear that they are happy and have friends and I’m sure that it helps to bring some form of peace but it never helps the yearning to have them back and the fact that we miss our loved ones who have passed over.

So sweet Sydney… I too, have lost a parent, my dad. But he’s always in my heart. I talk to him all the time – in my prayers, in my dreams, in my solitude… I believe that even if I don’t see him, he somehow guides me, in my daily life.

Oh, Sydney, my heart goes out to you. I will be visiting my parents in a few days. They are still alive, living in Manila. They are both in their 80’s now. My dad is not well. He had a stroke about 10 years ago and he is a cancer survivor. But he’s wheelchair-bound and can’t do much these days. My mother, on the other hand, is healthy and still very active.
I will hug them often and a lot when I get there!

Even I understand this is the rule of life ,of nature, a road which we all have to face someday – no exception, I still find it’s horrible when thinking of the day that my parents will leave me – alone – in this huge world ! I’m not that kind of strong, but I will try to be ^ – ^ when the time comes !

I haven’t been through this life much ,it may be quite childlike thinking, but the mist is just temporary – I believe so ^ – ^ no matter how far you get lost , how much you lose youself or how wrong your soul falls – you will always find the way back -as long as you want to ! And you can feel their voices as a part of yours body – in your original heart – again !
Do you believe in “the life after death” , Sydney ? that our people may make their choices if they want to have a next – brand new life or keep staying in the other world to guard their beloved one ?
I often pray for those who had left a new good life ,the old memmories will be just fine staying here – in our hearts ^ v ^ if we do have fate , somehow, someday we will meet !

This really touched me. My mother-in-law just passed away and I spent the past two days in her home sorting through her belongings that will be donated. Her spirit and presence was indeed there assuring me of her love and that I was making the right decisions. Beautiful post.
