Story about a white Samoyed

IMG_1495

This lovely female white Samoyed named “Dou Dou” is a 1-year old abandoned by her owner.  Her new owner, an old lady owns a little floral nursery along Pasir Ris.  She took over the ownership of Dou Dou a week ago.

A week ago, a man came to her and asked her to adopt Dou Dou, she told me in a delightful tone.  The man claimed that they just have a second child and he has another dog besides Dou Dou.  He knew that the old lady is a trusting and loving person and so he decided to offer Dou Dou to her.  With his words, I believed this man has been observing the old lady for a while and he’s left with no choice but to entrust the lovely pet to her.

The lady accepted Dou Dou from the bottom of her heart.  For the first few days, Dou Dou refuse to eat as she must have been missing her previous owner and feeling homesick.  She looses weight.  With love of her new owner, she started to adapt to the new environment and walk around happily.

I managed to carry her in my arm.  By my judgment, she is about 20kg!  The weight of this little angel is the combination of the lady’s tender loving care and the patting of visitors.  These help to bring back the smile on this white angel’s face.

Story about a black stray dog

stray dog 07

I saw a black stray dog loitering opposite a pet farm along Pasir Ris.  Shower came in a sudden on an ordinary Sunday afternoon.  With no brolly in hand, I had no choice but to hide under a tree in order not to get drenched.

I felt I share the same fate with this black doggy.  The only difference is he got a bigger shade, as he’s smart enough to hide himself under the lush dense bushes.

We both got doused while waiting for the rain to fade away.  I thank my God as the shower slowly subsided.  My little friend came out from the bush and look around suspiciously checking left and right making sure the rain has stopped and at the same time looking out for Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) who might be stalking him.

Not long after, he started his new journey and I started mine…

This is a stray that I met opposite the pet farm where pups are bought home for love and pampering.  For him, no one notices his existence.  Would anyone bother to care for him and shower him with love forever…?

Sculpture “Progressive Flow”

progressive flow 01

The sculpture “Progressive Flow” was cast on the ground outside One Marina Boulevard at the traffic junction between Raffles Quay and Marina Boulevard.

This significant art piece made by local sculptor Han Sai Por invites interactive, exploration and discovery.

progressive flow 06

Sculpture made in mess granite stone, consists of 6 blocks solid granite, weigh no less than 55 tons.

progressive flow 05

The Cultural Medallion Winner sculptor is one of the recognized Singapore foremost sculptors.  She transformed the solid stone into curve and flow with a rhythmic grace.

progressive flow 02

There are voids and gaps between the blocks, it allows people to walk through in-between, indirectly encourage viewers to join and participate the spatial game.

progressive flow 03

The wave-like blocks are positioned for people to rest and seat while appreciating the graceful art piece.

progressive flow 04

Not easy to imagine how much hardship has the sculptor gone through while hewing the sculpture?

The rough texture of the stones surface signifies the coarseness of the sculptor palm.

Husband was seriously ill.
Doc told wife: Give him healthy breakfast, be pleasant & in good mood.
don’t discuss your problems, no TV serial,
don’t demand new clothes & gold jewels.
Do this for 1 yr & he will be okay!
On the way home…
Husband asked: what did the doc said ?
Wife replied: No chance for you to survive!

Two rare scene happen in one day Pt 2 – A moth

moth 02

I saw a moth landed on the wall outside my apartment.  It’s about 10 inches in length from wing to wing and dark brown in color. I’m not sure it scientific name, a moth I could only call.  I’m fast enough to take a shot of it and stood still to see what is going to happen to it next.

I’ve expected it to fly off as it may be terrified by the sound of my hand phone’s shutter.  But he chooses to stay.  Continue his calm flagging show, opening and closing his wings calmly in placid movement.

moth 01

Some believe moth came from darkness; symbolized bad luck.  While some believed they were incarnated from our pass away relatives.  When a person passed away, he’ll return home as a moth on the seventh day of his passing to visit his family.

I’m not certain about the origin of this belief, but the appearance of this species does contribute some points of mystery.  It’s just like the bat and his loyal vampire fan.

moth 03

This is our rare meet-up, it has come to a point that I can’t bear to kick it away though it doesn’t look as charming as the butterfly.

To me, this is a beautiful moment, we happened to meet up at this junction of life.  Though we were brought up in different world but we happened to be on the same path.  What can be more magical?

We are captains of our boat.  At this moment of time, we share the same wave, and an eternal one…

Two rare scene happen in one day Pt1 – Rainbow Bridge

rare scene p1-02

I happen to look up the sky after a rainfall sun set, it wakes me up by a stun.  I saw a rainbow right above me!  It’s a primary rainbow, I believe.  Not a very contrasting one but it’s real.  I keep an eye on it trying hard not to blink my eyes…  It doesn’t make sense to others, they said after all it’s just a rainbow.  Nothing big deal!  To me, it’s big and larger than a mountain ‘cause it’s unpredictable and nature’s phenomenon.

I got my bread and butter to go after, a desktop job enough for me to lay my head down for whole day.  The chances to raise up my head are equally low.  Rain is not rare in this tropical land, but to invite a sunbeam passing through the vapors and cast itself on a blue curtain sky at the same time to capture the eyes of its admirer is rare indeed!

rare scene p1-01

So in the end, I didn’t move my eyes away from the charming bridge just like not allowing the sun to go down on me.

Many a time, we appreciate a show for a while by adding enviable comments and move on with our journey.  But this time, I managed to finished the whole movie right from the beginning to the end, as I’m not sure when will be the next return.  It could take him a decade or one’s lifetime!  Considering that, I enjoyed the sweetness and the joy given by this heavenly arc.

This is my first rare approach of the day; it’s charming enough to secure my other wishes…

A 300 feet long counter in this Historic Building

300 feet counter 01

While we enjoying the sun-ray casting down through the skylight bringing down joy of the day and a smile splashing over high tea set in this Jade Restaurant. Do you have the thoughts of the nostalgic past of this General Post Office ever emerge your mind?

With thousands of incoming and outgoing mails waving at us a day, the human flow of this post office is no doubt, self-generating.

300 feet counter 02

The now Fullerton Hotel was built in 1928, it was a General Post Office then.  The post office was converted into a hotel in 2001 under the URA conservation plan.

In the past, postal counters used to stretch from one counter to the other.  It took up to a 300 feet long, and was reputed to be the longest counter in Southeast Asia.  The current location of the Jade Restaurant took the place of the former but with a very different ambience all in all.

300 feet counter 03

This is a scene of a new stamp issue on 9th July 1972.  The picture show a large crowd buying postage at the counters while others are affixing stamps on their ready mails.

The architectural elements of this historic building speak a story of its own early days, and it keeps going.  No one can ever stop it…

Friend (27) – My yummy day

yummy day 04

I didn’t finish up the yam I bought the last moon-cake festival, it’s still lying in my fridge for several months.

yummy day 01

By chance, I took out one of them and decided to grow it in a pot.  I treat it as part of my lucky prediction, I guess…!  Incredibly, it started to grow within a few days!  The process reminds me that things are just there all along, we just need to be patient and wait for the time to ripe.

yummy day 05

Sometimes, we believe to be efficient, we need to get things done immediately.  But sometimes, it just doesn’t work that way and the results may not turn out in your favor.  Then, we feel frustrated and miserable; hence to buy more time is the priority we have to approach.

yummy day 02

No doubt, there isn’t a deadline to stomach this piece of yam, but still, a sense of guilt creep in, as I never finish up my food.  But gladly, by not consuming it, give the yam an un-expecting livelihood and gave me a chance to relate this wonderful story.

yummy day 03

The yam makes its way out of the other side of the green.  It’s vital enough to inspire hope on us.  Just as you thought life is withering, it could be just the beginning, like the pearl drop.

yummy day 06

How can I bear to finish him up and burp with contentment?  Just as my wish for this year need to be justified.  I wish him a speedy growth.  So that he can be my umbrella, shade me underneath his arm from the sun and rain.

We shall weep, hug each other and watch the sun go down together.

Thank you, my friend!
