7) What is the most atmosphere for CNY?

Posted on Updated on

rediish face 07

I’m looking for something but it is not on this red withering flower.

Hairy caterpillars say, wait for me to grow up, I’ll tell you!

rediish face 05

He said, for the time being offer you a mini mandarin orange.

rediish face 03

Or a deep pocket with full itinerary.

rediish face 06

What about a blessing to carry along?

rediish face 04

Let’s make it double!

rediish face 01

Or let the water snake stick by you whole year through!

And come in a pair!

Note:  One blogger mentioned to me earlier that CNY atmosphere is diminishing.  I totally agree with this!  We know we can’t change the way it is but on the other hand putting some thought and effort can change the way you perceive it.

This year is a year that is graceful to me.  Being able to spend my time blogging and sharing my thoughts with the world.  I feel I have created the atmosphere for myself and it lives in my heart.

This is the most memorable year I had!

58) Building makes way to this tree

building tree 02

This Panaga Laut tree is one of the Heritage trees in Singapore Botanic Gardens.  This species grow on sandy beaches and lowland forests.  It is widely spread over from East Africa to West Pacific.  You can find their footprints in Singapore too.

building tree 01

This tree is slow growing and has low and massive branches with a broad, dense crown.  Different part of the body can be made into traditional medicine.

building tree 03

This tree has home itself there for over 100 years.  The design of the building, Botany Centre has take into consideration the need to preserve this precious tree.  Walk ways were made narrow to accommodate the large spreading root of this tree.  The second floor void was created to allow tree branches to be retained.

Isn’t it a good way to show respect to nature?

57) A ride to Coney Island

corney island 02

Pulau Serangoon, also known as Coney Island in Singapore.  It is a 45-hectare in size and located off the north-eastern coast of the Singapore mainland.  Back in about 30 years ago, you still be able to make your own way when the tide is low, as the closest distant to the shore is just about 100metres.  Fun seekers will just ignore this and have their fun in this sunny island.

Currently, the island is closed for future quality housing developments.  The only residents here are the coniferous trees and the breeze shuttling between trees.  While some visitors watch over the waters with approving admiration.

Coming in by Waterway@Punggol direction, a red-soil route welcome you like the red carpet.

Pine trees, ripples with the wide horizon make up an account for Coney Island beyond words.

A pavilion with an irregular arc comes with semi-open concept allows viewers to capture the beautiful scenery at the same time to hide away from the rain and sun.

corney island 06

The inner side of the arc, laid with reflective aluminum ceilings, mirror the bleeding red ground and turn him to a blush!

Rest enough for the day, let’s carry on with the red carpet trail and explore the next destination.

30) Song of wild flowers

wild flowers 03

Wild flowers, my dearest wild flowers

Spring is your day

Spring is your mom

Spring is your holy faith

Poem within your palm

O!

Wild flowers, my wild flowers

Aren’t you turning down my admiration?

Aren’t you releasing my nuisance?

Aren’t you realizing a fool is waiting for your enlightenment?

wild flowers 01

Wild flowers, my dearest wild flowers!

Dawn is on you way

Dawn is by your side

Dawn never fade away

Praises within your lovely farm

O!

Wild flowers, my wild flowers

Wont you care about my admiration?

Won’t you release my sorrows?

Won’t you able to feel my sympathy?

wild flowers 02

Wild flowers, my dearest wild flowers!

Rippers living by your side

Rippers waiting for your ride

Rippers need your smile and make him bright

Pleasant within your kindly eyes

O!

Wild flowers, my wild flowers

Won’t you still be seeing me tomorrow?

Won’t you be able to?

Wont you able to speak softly to me again?

Tell me where is your next destination!

56) Leave your footprints behind

leave foot print 02

When you visit Green Pavilion, Singapore Botanic Gardens, the easy environment not only keeps your mind free but the fresh air also leaves your lungs empowered with oxygen.  The footpath leading to the basement car park is as enticing.  The raw cement foot base is imprinted with bona fide leaves.  I believe it must have something to do with this charming and creative organization (owner of the park) that is much into biodiversity.

Personally, I love Raphis leaves a lot.  They’re always asking you for a dance with their swinging leaves.

The exotic Yam leaf with its broad shape reminds me of its undetachable relationship with the dew.  Not forgetting the yummy yam underneath the soil that provides aplenty of nutrients and nourishes our taste buds.

This fan palm looks exactly like the straw fan I am holding now!  Both have similar characters but different owners, but they are still standing green as eco-ambassadors.

Do stay a bit longer in a so-call un-expecting place in your next visit here.  Listen to their Hellos before you take a life up to the outer green!  Sometimes, your inner green is greener than others!

That is why I keep coming back to this little heaven; I just can’t get enough of it!

55) Crouching Tiger and the Hidden Dragon, Why are you hiding there?

wood sculpture 01

The wood sculptures are display at the Green Pavilion, Singapore Botanic Gardens.  They were carved from disused tree stumps with different hidden animals.

Perhaps they are happily gossiping behind us in their very own enclosure.

wood sculpture 02

One here, trying to hide away from us!

wood sculpture 03

Another one here!

wood sculpture 09

At last, I caught a Dragon. Oh no! Is a Godzilla!

wood sculpture 10

Beware! They always come in a pair.

wood sculpture 04

Come on, don’t be as slow as the tortoise!

wood sculpture 05

How many of them are there?  Hmm…yet to figure out.

wood sculpture 06

Oops!  Is that an octopus or a snake or other thing else?

wood sculpture 07

Are you the octopus or an “automated push button”?

wood sculpture 08

Are there anymore?

Most probably the Tiger has escaped in the bush!

29) All these are happening in my Secret Garden

my garden 03

When spring arrives and visits my Secret Garden this morning.  I am enchanted as it sprinkles his hand to fertile us.

Some may take it one at a time.

my garden 02

Some may take a bigger share and keep it for rainy days.

my garden 05

Some may not be able to catch it on time.

my garden 06

Some can’t even feel it at all.

my garden 04

Some sobbed and are moved by the divine touch.

my garden 08

Some are just glad with their given portion.

my garden 07

Some are overflow with it.

my garden 01

Some stick out their neck day and night begging for the mercy of nature.

Yelling out, “Here, here, we are here!”

Then, they are stretching out each and every day, taller and taller, higher and higher!

All these are happening in my Secret Garden.

6) I saw my parents this morning

temple 01

To day, my family and me spent half a day doing prayer to my ancestors and deceased parents. The little Buddhist temple located at Paya Lebar road, where tranquil and serenity lived.

temple 02

This is the place for holding the prayer for the deceased and the tablets. My parents are somewhere at the left near the front.

But strangely, I couldn’t see them!

temple 03

I walked to the back yard, saw a young papaya tree waved and said hello to me.

temple 06

And walked further, asked Phalaenopsis,” where are my parents?”

She just smiled at me in return.

temple 07

I asked the pearl drop, do you know where are my dearest parents?

temple 05

I approached the aging bench.

temple 08

I feel a balmy and gentle hand pat on my shoulder, and I looked up.

I saw daylight resting on the leaves. I saw them!

temple 04

Dad and Mom said:” son, not to worry about us! We have friends, many friends here! You should take good care of yourself and live meaningfully each day!”

I kept nodding in sob.

temple 12

Raindrops witnessed and shared with me this moment.

My dearest Dad and Mom, I missed you!

22) Two articles in the toilet cubicle

I managed to extract two informative articles pasted on the inner side of  toilets cubicle partition in Singapore Botanic Gardens.  The open-concept toilets surrounded with beautiful plants and chirping birds is indeed a good place for inspirations!

1) Do you know the milky saps from Chiku trees (manilkara zapota) produces a gum that was the original source of chewing gum?  Does it remind you of the ‘Chicklets’ brand chewing gums or others?

2) Do you know the sea coconuts in our local dessert are from the fruit of palm, borassus flabellifer.  The male and female inflorescences are born on different plants.

While doing your business, you’ll enjoy the beautiful plants and birds chirping around you.  What more, you can enrich yourself with this information.  Isn’t it an idea as brilliant as the beaming sun!

4) I am no normal tea

Posted on

lei cha 01

“擂茶”, in Chinese literally means Lei Tea (pounded tea).  The name Lei arises from the Lei stick (wooden stick) that was used to grind the ingredients.  This iconic Hakka food is healthy and body cleansing.  It was known that Lei Tea was originated from the Three Kingdom, China.

lei cha 02

In Singapore, Lei Tea is also known as “Thunder Tea” as the word “Lei” has the same pronunciation as “Thunder” in Chinese language.  The dish is served with brown or white rice, tops up with various chopped ingredients like long beans, tofu, peanuts, cabbage, pickled radish and green vegetables.  The ingredients can be varies, as for vegetarian Ikan Bilis (anchovies) is optional.

lei cha 03

The tea soup itself is a composite of different types of tea leaves.  Herbs (like mint, basil), nuts, seeds and beans ground together with the Lei stick to form a light green paste or powder.  Hot water is then added to the tea paste/powder to go along with the rice.

lei cha 04

For some, trying the savory soup for the first time may find it raw.  But it has a refreshing after taste!  The healthy green fragrance may lure you back for more each time!  Unlike the normal tea we have daily, Lei Tea is a healthy food mix with tint of ancient culture and healthy modern lifestyle people adore these days!

If you happen to see it, try it!  You may like it!  But beware, not to let the tea steal the thunder out of you!
