16) Slow Song

_Sloth_

I am a Sloth

Slow like a tortoise, happy like a saint

Living in the tree

Grounded with a brain

Gentle, happy, lovely face

I wouldn’t go for a race

As I am living in my own way

I am a Tortoise

Slow like a snail, live like a saint

Strolling on the ground

Protected by my own shell

Gentle, happy, lovely face

I wouldn’t go for a race

As the rabbit had already lost the race

 I am a snail

Slow like a worm, crawling like a saint

Chewing in the green

Singing in the rain

Gentle, happy, lovely face

I wouldn’t go for a race

As I may end up on your dining tray

Day 322/365 - Kilroy Was Here

 I am a human being

Speed like superman, think like Spiderman

Files piling up on my desk

Water level reaching up my neck

No more gentle, happy, lovely face

I always go for a race

‘Else my boss will said to me

you are sloth like a tortoise, slow like a snail

Hiring you is a waste

11) The Lost (1)

No one ever knew what had actually happened to Ken other than himself.
It was till 7.00pm that Ken’s parents began to worry about his return from school.  His dad call up the school and was told he left after his extracurricular activities around 3.00pm.
Where could Ken been?  Usual days, he’ll be sitting in front of the TV set watching his favorite series by 7.00pm.  Ken is a well-behave and smart boy at his age.  Though he is still naïve, but his self-discipline and good conduct has never worry his parents.
As the sky gets darker, Ken’s parents loses their patient and decided to drive out to look for Ken.

But they are not sure where to start off.  Ken’s dad drove towards the direction of his school hoping to see him there, but the school gate was locked and the vicinity was in total darkness.  Then, a strong instinct led them to a park nearby Ken’s school.  This is a park where Ken had fond memories of his childhood.  He loves to drop by feeling the flora and fauna and look up for his playmates at times.
By this point of time, Ken’s parents were very anxious as there isn’t a clue down the path.  The dim lighted, quiet park added a sense of mystery to their lost son.  After a few laps walking around the cul-de-sac of the park, they were drained and was about to call the police for help.  Suddenly, they saw movement in the bushes not far from the pavillion.  Curiously, step-by-step in trepidation they move towards the bushes 3 metre away.
At this point of time, the weeping sound heartened Ken’s dad to poke the bushes with a vigorous rush.  To their shock, they saw Ken’s trembling with both fear and shock.

“Why are you hiding here?” Ken’s dad spoke with a reproachful tone.
“I can’t find my way home” Ken spoke with a look of grievances.
 “I don’t get you…?” Ken’s dad was puzzled.
“I don’t know!”  Since noon after I came here, I have been trying to walk out of this park, but I just can’t find the exit.
“You can easily follow anyone here to get to the exit” Ken’s dad felt that he is silly.
“Yes I did!” Ken felt that he was wronged.
“I followed those people, but those people…”
“And what now?” Parents were tensed at this moment.
“They all walked into the bushes..”
“Oh, come on…Ken”  Both parents rebuke.
“Yeah…While I followed everyone walked into the bushes, I just can’t find a way out from it tile the sunset.  I was too afraid and I have hide here till rescue come to me”  Ken’s dad felt something is obviously not right and they hurried off home.

In the car, dad recalled an incident…
He wanted to know the reason of Ken’s visit to the park
Ken felt hesitant to answer his dad.
His pursue with the question as he knew what had happened today is rather unusual.
Ken pick up his courage and explained that he dreamt of cousin Wei last night.
“But Wei was killed in an accident last month” Both parents repeated.
“I knew he is dead, but the dream last night was spot-on, Wei dated me to meet up at the park, he wanted to show me something, I can’t reject him as we are both so close to each other” Ken argued.
 “Moreover…”
 “Besides what…?” Mom asked.
“He said he won’t have a chance to see me after this meet up” Ken looked on reluctantly.
Ken’s parents stared at each other with disbelieve.  Ken’s dad subconsciously tapped on the car accelerator and they sped off.  Promise never to return to the park anymore.

3) A story about Tiger in a little Jar

This 1-inch diameter Jar clawing with tiger doesn’t harm you, it doesn’t make any complaint until your muscle is yelling or nose is blocking.  It becomes a tiger that eases your pain and calms your vein.

The Jar captures an insight story about Assiduousness, a story about two brothers, Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par, whom took over the business from their herbalist father, Aw Chu Kin in the 1870s. They founded “Tiger Balm Gardens” in 1930, one in Singapore (the well known Haw Par Villa), and the other in Hong Kong.  During the olden days, Haw Par Villa is a must visit mythology theme park for family outdoor event during weekends or public holidays.  The Chinese mythology figures are good means of teaching traditional Chinese values.

Aw Boon “Haw” literally meant “Tiger” in Chinese and Aw Boon “Par” literally translated as “Leopard”, and this infamous story of Tiger and Leopard is legendary worldwide.
The Aw families with enormous fame overseas has done benevolent contributions to society with this huge garden, till now admission is free for all.

2) The 5-Dollars Note Tree

Posted on

This Tembusu tree is located in Singapore Botanic Gardens, it is best known as The 5-dollars Note Tree.  It is believed that the tree was there well before the Gardens were laid out in1859.

Whenever you mention about a 5-dollars note, almost everyone in the nation will relate the sweet and joyful story about the tree.  Kids and adults find it irresistible to park themselves on the lower part of the broad branch and taking photos with this chivalrous tree is a familiar task to most of us.

The branch of the tree grown wide and as it is politely lowered with not more than 6 inches before it touches the ground.

As years go by, the wise turn wiser, the old turn older.  Crutches may have become the evidence of a wisdom man.
Now, the gracious wise tree has been conserved by the National Parks under the Heritage Trees Scheme.

8) “Dragon” playground

Following 3 decades, this “Dragon” design playground was born during the 70s to 90s and is still playing on his own, in this little heartland.  Together with those newbies that came along with plastic finishes and rubber floor mats, I supposed he is the oldie in the group, looking untouched throughout the traces of the years standing on his sand-based ground.
Paying respect not only to his age, but also to what he has made it to a list of “15 Amazing Playgrounds From All Over The World” which was compiled by magazine website Flavorwire.

With the remaining of the other three “Dragon” design playground, he is the only one left with sand based.
I am not sure how he feels to stand-alone here, but I am very sure he has many followers and passer-by to pay him a visit and a warm Hi!  Reminiscing what a great childhood we had with this guy!

This little cute “sea horse” design resembles a little bone’s shaker, smiling at all ages.

7) “Rainbow” HDB Flats

Posted on Updated on

The “Rainbow” art painted public flat constructed by the Housing Development Board (HDB), I believe there are not many left in this century, where all new overruns the old.
Besides complimenting the art piece, my little mind makes me wonder how the gigantic arc was painted on this big piece of concrete canvas?  And how brilliant the designer was indeed.  We hardly look up to see a beautiful rainbow, why not stay a bit longer before we turn to the next page of the History.

A semi-circular open protruding staircase, hardly come across them apart from some HDB flats belonging to the same era.

1) Attention to my Dearest Nominators and Followers

Posted on Updated on

Hi, my Dearest Nominators
I have been searching all corners of myself
To look for a beautiful reason to say I’m sorry
I open up my drawer
And I see emptiness in the diary, waiting for me to infuse
I open up my safe
And I see another emptiness in the figures, which is no longer safe
I open up my sky
Trying to find out the mixture of East and West
I open up my image album
Attempting to figure out how shabby I am
For the time being
I am still searching
For a beautiful reason to say sorry
If I have turn you down and have let you down
Hi, my Dearest Followers
I have been looking all corners of myself
Searching for a beautiful land to greet you with proper delight Hi
I open up my book cabinet
Started swimming into the ocean of knowledge
I open up your book cabinet
Dive in and almost get drown
I open up our book cabinet
And I saw a smile and warm handshake
I open up our National cabinet
Flattered by this gigantic book filled up with people with knowledge at all age.
Well, for the time being,
I am still searching
For a beautiful land to greet you with proper Hi

28) Where is this sculpture?

Sculpture outside URA

This sculpture can be found outside URA-Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Building in Singapore.
This sculpture is a symbolic of the Sam Shui Woman (红头巾) in memory of their selflessness contributions to our country.

Sam Shui Woman whom is a Chinese immigrant from Sam Shui, a province of China during the olden days.
Most of them work in construction site, doing hard labour works like carrying cement, bricks and timber for building construction.  They are tough and work very hard day and night, mostly more than 10 hours a day, but only get 5 to 6 cents in return during those days.
They put on a self-design scarf in the color of red to shade themselves from rain and shine.
Most Sam Shui Woman live in Chinatown area, along豆腐街, Tofu Street (presently known as Chin Chew Street).  They stay in rented conservation unit with unpleasant and unhealthy condition, as most of them are cramped in the small little space the unit can provide.
But, subsequently their names gradually gain the respect of the community at home and abroad as they have contributed tremendously to the building construction industries in those days.  “Red Scarf”, thus became the revered of Sam Shui woman unique and specific terms showing the noble and resilient character of the Overseas Chinese Women.

We love you more than we can say

My dearest little monkey

You should not complain anymore

Just as you are a clown in the forest

And this is for your own good

You can expand your talent in the circus roundabout

To win a big applause

All these are for your own sake

As we shall always love you

That is what they rake

We love you more than we can say

My dearest little rabbit

You shouldn’t be squeaking anymore

As you are a timid guy living in the cave

And this is for your own good

You can expose your outfit to earn profit

All these are for your own sake

As we shall always love you

That is what they rake

My dearest giant Garoupa

You shouldn’t be hiding underneath the ocean rock anymore

As you are one of the legend of the ocean kingdom

And this is for your own good

You become the celebrity in the chandelier hall

All these are for your own sake

As we shall always be your aficionado

We love you more than we can say

My dearest little doggy

You shouldn’t be growing anymore

As you are just a little pet on the floor

And this is for your own good

You can expand your other side of talent

To win a big applause in the cold winter ending up on a dinning table

All these are for your own sake

As we shall always love you from our bottom of our stomach

That is what they rake
