Ice cream is a bit of a specialty here in Dairyland. My favorite flavor: The Chocolate Shoppe’s “Zanzibar” http://www.chocolateshoppeicecream.com/Zanzibar . It is soooooooo good!

Oh yes, ice cream was very difficult to obtain in olden days — even the days of my own small childhood! We spent our summers then in a cottage community that had no electricity. Long after we had refrigerators in the city, we still had ice boxes in this community — and when we wanted ice cream, we had to hand crank the ingredients until they turned into ice cream. After all that work, the ice cream was always a HUGE treat.
