This is what I am

He replied

If I am not what I am, then what should I be?

I asked the autumn tree

Why are you so sad even with your falling leaves?

This is what I am

He replied

If I am a bushy tree, does that mean I will be much more happy?

  1. I shared your interest in entailing life experiences that describe the designer or whatever profession one leads, for it is the narratives and nuances of that person that define his/her true self.

    Cheers!

    Salleh

    • Great ! And I am sure each individual has their own story to tell, that why we are the blogger ! I am a 2 months old newbie, I got so much things to pick up from you guys, cheers, and see you !

  2. I love this! It touched my soul.

  3. Hi Sydney
Identity is so interesting. We humans try to impose our categories on the world around us, rarely stopping to think that not everything is made for our benefit.
Your verse caused me to smile and consider this, and for that I am very grateful.
    Regards, Dave

  4. creative..and with a message to accept oneself are as Nietzsche says…to know thyself.

  5. I am who I am. Who else should I be except me? Thank you.

  6. I like the way you look at things. This is a great poem.

  7. You do add grain on this side of the earth.

    • imagine everybody by adding 1 seed per day, what will happen? – remember AddGrainOnEarth

      • Sydney
Oh, so that is the secret of your name. I wondered why this name moved me so.
        A great feeling and focus.
Everyone adds one grain. : )
I will add mine. As you so do add yours.

      • grain is not my only, I do have other names like grass, willow etc do you find the similarity ? – remember AddGrainOnEarth

      • Yes, a poet wrote about this name you speak of in a book of poems that makes my heart feel like your name and your blog do. It is called Leaves of Grass. It’s just like AddGrain/Grass/Willow/Etc/OnEarth.
        Same Spirit. This reminds me:
When I was a very small girl, my religion excluded China. This bothered me. I didn’t know even one person from China. Chinese was the word I used for very very different, other. But being a Libra I used to ask God: First, why You made children, then decides You don’t like them anymore?
Also, if you are so great God, then why don’t you find a way to love and care for your other children, too? Because it made me sad.
Ha ha. I was sad for nothing. Total ignorance.
I know this story and my religion and what I believed is not true. Never was, I just thought that form my very small religion.
But it still makes me happy that there is a God big enough for everyone on earth.
I had to tell that small God to go to hell after a while. He just didn’t do his whole job well.
I love your cite and your poems and grain and Whatever it is that is big enough for everyone to be happy.
Thanks for adding so much grain to my happiness, Sydney.

      • thank you for telling me so much about your feelings and thoughts, I always like to put words into short length, partly I can’t write well and I can’t speak well….., what I am going to tell you is that, whether a person with or without any religions, that is not crucial, do you know what I mean? – remember AddGrainOnEarth

      • I know what you mean!!!
It was really long and heartbreaking to discover what you mean.
        Religion is not necessarily.
        Not necessary.

        : )

      • no ! that is not what I mean? sigh….! what I am trying to console you is that , believe or not is all up to oneself, a book is just a book, is it too deep for you ? sorry I might be confusing you, and being so provoking, I might be losing one Blogger friend tonight – remember AddGrainOnEarth

      • ha ha

        Not that.
        I understand. You are funny.
I just meant that my journey from being blind to being able to see was a very dark night.
        Now I think I see though. : )
I like what you see cuz I can see it too. before, no matter how I looked, I could not see.
Thanks for the beauty for me to look at
        a grain

    • I think the way as you too, some time we as a human like to ask around why this thing happen like that , why not the other way ? perhaps when you look careful, they may had answered you by other form of words and may be asking back why should be in your way?
